The Dahua NVR4204-P-4KS3 is a Lite-series network video recorder (NVR) for up to 4 IP cameras with a resolution of up to 12 megapixels. The recorder has 4 built-in PoE ports (IEEE 802.3af/at), so a single network cable supplies each camera with power and data, with a total PoE budget of 48 W and a maximum of 25.5 W per port. There is room for 2 SATA hard drives of up to 20 TB each, and the recorder handles 80 Mbps incoming and 60 Mbps outgoing bandwidth.
The recorder itself runs Smart Motion Detection (SMD) on 4 channels, distinguishing between people and vehicles and filtering out false alarms caused by leaves, rain or changing light, for example. With compatible Dahua cameras you can also use camera-based functions such as face detection and recognition, perimeter protection, people counting and heat maps. You can view footage via HDMI (up to 3840 × 2160) or VGA (up to 1920 × 1080), in a web browser or with the app for iOS and Android. Via ONVIF (Profile T, S and G) you can also connect cameras from other brands, and recordings are compressed with Smart H.265+ or Smart H.264+.
