Access points

A powerful and stable wireless network is essential these days. Whether you have an office, shop, warehouse, or home: without properly functioning Wi-Fi, everything grinds to a halt. Computers, smartphones, cash registers, printers, security cameras, smart lighting – they all depend on a reliable wireless connection. Access points (APs) form the heart of your Wi-Fi network. Unlike standard routers, which are often limited in coverage and capacity, access points provide a professional and scalable wireless network that grows with your organization.

At UMA-TECH you will find a carefully selected range of access points from leading brands such as Reyee, UniFi, TP-Link Omada and EnGenius , with which you can effortlessly set up a stable and secure network.

What exactly is an access point?

An access point is a device that converts a wired network connection into a wireless Wi-Fi signal. You connect the access point to your router or switch via a network cable, after which it broadcasts its own wireless network (SSID). The major advantage is that you can place multiple access points in strategic locations throughout your building, ensuring a strong and stable connection everywhere. This is especially important in larger buildings, multiple floors, or locations with thick walls where a standard router doesn't provide sufficient range.

Why choose multiple access points?

For smaller networks with just one room or floor, a router is often sufficient. But as soon as you have multiple users or devices spread across a larger area, you quickly run into limitations: weak signals, intermittent connections, and slow speeds. Access points solve this by dividing the network into multiple "cells," each with strong coverage. Modern systems support seamless roaming: devices automatically switch to the strongest access point without losing connection. This allows employees, customers, or guests to move around the building undisturbed while maintaining a stable connection.

Key features of modern access points

Modern business access points offer much more than just wireless internet. Consider:

• Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E technology for higher speeds, lower latency and more capacity per access point
• PoE power (Power over Ethernet) so you don't need a separate power adapter
• Central cloud management platforms that allow you to configure and monitor multiple access points simultaneously
• Guest networks with VLAN support to keep visitors separate from your internal network
• Mesh functionality for automatic interconnection between access points
• Band steering and load balancing for optimal distribution of devices over the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands

At UMA-TECH, you'll find models for every situation: from compact ceiling APs for office spaces to powerful outdoor access points for large sites or warehouses.

Access points vs. routers and repeaters

A common mistake is to add extra routers or Wi-Fi repeaters when the range is insufficient. However, repeaters often halve the speed, and routers create separate networks that hinder roaming. Access points are the professional solution: they form one large, seamless network with consistent performance throughout the entire building. This is more reliable, faster, and easier to manage.
