Dahua NVR4108HS-4KS2/L – Network Video Recorder – 8 Channels – 4K

The Dahua NVR4108HS-4KS2/L is a compact 8-channel network video recorder (NVR) designed for IP surveillance systems where both quality and affordability matter. With 4K output, H.265(+) compression and straightforward network connectivity, it is ideal for small to mid-sized installations such as shops, offices and homes.

Key features

• Supports up to 8 IP cameras as input channels
• Bandwidth: up to 80 Mbps incoming, 80 Mbps recording, 60 Mbps forwarding (for this series)
• Compression: Smart H.265+, H.265, Smart H.264+, H.264
• Video outputs: 1× HDMI (up to 3840 × 2160, i.e. 4K) + 1× VGA, both usable simultaneously
• Storage: 1× SATA port for an internal hard drive; maximum supported capacity varies (the datasheet lists up to 8 TB or 10 TB depending on the model)
• Compact housing: 260 mm × 225 mm × 47.6 mm (W × D × H), 1U "Lite" series format
• Smart functions such as face detection, perimeter protection, people counting and heat map (when combined with compatible cameras)

Why choose this NVR?

• Affordable entry-level NVR: as part of the "Lite" range, you get a lot of functionality at a reasonable price.
• Future-proof for IP cameras: support for 8 MP/4K input leaves room for high-quality installations.
• Flexible monitor options: 4K HDMI output allows direct high-quality display.
• Easy installation: standard network protocol compatibility (ONVIF, RTSP) lets you connect a wide range of IP cameras.
• Compact size: ideal for installation in mounting enclosures or cabinets in shops or offices.

Who is this model for?

• Small retail installations with 4–8 IP cameras that need high image quality without expensive high-end hardware.
• Office environments that require monitoring and simple system expansion.
• Budget-conscious projects that still call for good technology.
• Situations where space is limited (e.g. small enclosure, 1U rack).

Points to note

• The model without "-8P" means this variant has no built-in PoE ports, so check whether you need a PoE switch.
• Only one HDD bay: if you need a lot of storage or redundancy, choose a model with multiple bays.
• When recording several ultra-high-resolution cameras at once, check that the bandwidth (80 Mbps) and storage capacity are sufficient.

Conclusion

The Dahua NVR4108HS-4KS2/L is a strong choice for installations that combine quality and capability (8 channels, 4K output) with a relatively modest budget.
